What is Hercampuri?

Hercampuri (Gentianella alborosea) is a herbal plant from Peru and has a long tradition of use as a liver detoxifier and weight-loss aid, and as such has been an important cleansing plant since the time of the Incas.

The word “Hjircan pureck”, which comes from Quechua, means "the one that walks from town to town", referring to the Incan doctors who walked from place to place, carrying a wide selection of medicinal plants in their knapsacks for treating their patients.

Hercampuri has a choleretic and colagoge action and, hence, is used to cleanse the liver and gallbladder. It contains quantities of bitter compounds that help to regenerate hepatic function, stimulate bilary acid secretion, prevent the formation of gallstones and generally aid the digestive process. A better functioning liver promotes overall health, reduces the over production of cholesterol, decreases fat levels and helps in weight loss/obesity programs. Hercampuri has also been found to standardize arterial pressure and as such reduces the risks of cardiovascular problems.
